Apple retail sign from 1978 up for action at Rs 9 lakh – Times of India

Vintage Apple products are hard to find and often attract a lot of interest among the tech community. We can occasionally find Apple products and other items related to Apple fetching a lot of money at auctions and now there’s an Apple retail sign from 1978 which is up for bidding.
An original retail sign that was showcased in Apple computer‘s advertisements from the 1970s is going under the hammer for a start bid of $12000 which translates to around Rs 9 lakh.
The original Apple Computer, circa 1978, flaunts the famous rainbow apple logo measuring over 4 feet by 5 feet is said to be one of the earliest Apple retail signs that was displayed by an authorised reseller who learned about Apple by attending a computer conference in 1976.
“Acrylic sign in metal frame measures 48.5” x 60.5”. A few surface marks, and some yellowing to background, but rainbow colors remain bright. Overall very good condition,” as per the website of Nate D. Sanders Auctions
Recently, an original Apple-1 computer which was handmade by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was up for bidding at a base price of $50,000 which translates to around Rs 37 lakh. Rare Apple-1 computers turn up for auctions every year but this model was special. It is still in working condition and fully functional. Also, the condition is said to be in “exceptional” condition. Another highlight of this auction was that Steve Wozniak has himself signed the box of the Apple-1 computer.
Apple-1 computers were launched in 1976 and were discontinued in 1977. It was originally conceived by Steve Jobs and Steve ‘Woz’ Wozniak as a bare circuit board to be sold as a kit and completed by electronics hobbyists.
