Mysuru: Private unaided schools announce strike on Tuesday – Times of India

MYSURU: The private schools association in Mysuru have announced holiday for schools on Tuesday to pressurise the government to fulfil their various demands. The management association has asked the school managements to join the strike, which is supported by teachers and non-teaching staff. The main demand includes withdrawing the 30% fee cut order, financial assistance to the schools affected by Covid 19, reviewing the compulsory promotion to all the students. In Mysuru district over 350 schools are participating in this strike.

It can be recalled that the state government slashed the annual tuition fee of the schools by 30% for the academic year 2020-21 keeping in mind the interests of students and parents. However private budget schools are opposing this move.

According to Santosh Kumar, district representative of the Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools (KAMS), all the unaided schools from Mysuru extended to this strike call. “Our demands includes excluding the old schools from the mandatory fire safety and building safety guidelines, ensuring the BEOs will not promote any students using the Student Tracking System (STS) login and passwords, and reopening of offline regular classes for the students studying between Class I and V,” explained Kumar.

“We requested all the school managements to participate in the strike. We are joining the protest in Bengaluru organised by the schools association,” he concluded.

As the offline classes for the students between Class VI and X already in progress, the students and parents expected to affected by this strike call.
