BSE Odisha 10th, 12th board exam 2021 dates announced, check here – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Providing relief to hundreds and thousands of students, Odisha government on Saturday announced dates for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) and Plus-II examinations for 2021.

The class X board exam will be held from May 3 to 15. The annual plus-II exam will begin from May 15 and conclude on June 11. The practical examinations for both the class X and class XII board exams will begin from April 29.

To prepare students for the board exams the government has decided to reopen schools for the two classes from January 8. The students will attend 100 days of classroom teaching till April 28 including Saturdays and Sundays. The students will be allowed to attend school with written consent from their parents. The state government has issued a detailed standard operating procedure for schools, teachers and students for the school reopening.

Schools outside the containment zone will be allowed to reopen. Prior to school reopening all work areas including furniture, libraries, toilets, storage places, water tanks and other frequently touched surfaces will be sanitised properly. As many as 20 to 25 students will be allowed to sit in a class to ensure safe distancing. Schools without 100% access to potable water and adequate functional toilets will not be allowed to reopen. Schools providing transportation facilities should be discouraged to resume services or may continue with 50% capacity with proper sanitisation.

The decision of the government has been welcomed by students and parents. “It is indeed a big relief for us as we get adequate time for preparing for the exam. Though we used to have online classes but there were many doubts. Classroom teaching will be of great help,” said Ipsita Sahu, a class X student.

All educational institutions were closed for covid outbreak on March 17, 2020. Meanwhile to reduce the stress of students the state government had also reduced 30% of the syllabus for the 2021 academic session.

“The next 100 days will be the real testing time for teachers. I would request all teachers to be extra careful and sincere in giving their best in preparing students for the examinations. I would also request the government to make some changes in the examination pattern and allow students to appear objective type questions only,” said Praksh Chandra Mohanty, secretary of Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA).

Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha- the state level parents’ association also welcomed the state government’s decision to reopen schools and announce the board exam dates. “Our only concern is the sanitisation of school premises should be taken up by the health and family welfare department to ensure safety of the students,” said Basudev Bhatt, chairman of the association.

The SOP for reopening of schools will be applicable to all government, government –aided, private educational institutes affiliated to other boards as well.
