Vij reviews preparedness, seek Post COVID care and Research Centre at PGIMS Rohtak – Times of India


CHANDIGARH: Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij said on Wednesday that a ‘Post Covid Care and Research Centre’ will soon be set up at PGIMS Rohtak to address the problems faced by patients recovering from COVID-19.

In a virtual meeting organized in this regard, the Health Minister directed to send the proposal to Vice Chancellor, Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, OP Kalra soon. Not only will people suffering from COVID-19 be treated in this centre but research will be done on the problems they have to go through after recovering, he added.

Civil Surgeons of all districts have been directed to increase sampling and to set up COVID testing camps in districts and cities in order to control the spread of the infectio

Vij said that the Civil Surgeons should also encourage people in the districts to download the app made by the Health Department so that patients can get information about the availability of beds in hospitals from their homes itself. In addition, Civil Surgeons should ensure the availability of beds in private hospitals based on the rating of COVID-19 in various districts.

He asked all government medical colleges to reserve 100 beds for COVID-19 patients so that these could be used as the number of cases increase. Along with this, the police department was also directed to be strict with people who are not wearing masks while the Local Urban Bodies Department should check that masks are worn by everyone in the shops.

Expressing concern over the case of some children being found COVID-19 positive in schools, the Health Minister said that the Health Department team will conduct health checkups of students and staff of all schools. Strict action should be taken against whichever school is found to be negligent, he added. He said that tests should be conducted in the factories as well.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Mr. Rajiv Arora gave a presentation in this regard. He said that SOPs made for prevention of COVID-19 should be strictly followed. Along with this, the entire Health system was also directed to remain alert. Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education, and Research Department, Mr. Alok Nigam said that people should be encouraged by the police to maintain social distancing even in the markets. Director-General of Police, Mr. Manoj Yadava said that strict action will be taken against those who will be found not wearing masks. Along with this, action will also be taken against people and marriage venues for gatherings of more than the prescribed number of people, he added.
