Google Meet call gets raise your hand feature during calls – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Google has released a new update in Google Meet for its Workplace customers which will help in reducing interruptions during video calls. Google Meet will now allow participants to virtually raise their hands in order to notify the moderators that they have a query.
A similar kind of feature is already available in the rival app — Zoom. Users can virtually raise their hands to get attention during an ongoing Zoom call. In Google Meet users will not notice a ‘Raise hand’ button placed at the bottom of the navigation bar. When a user will click on the button it will notify the moderator of the video call on the sidebar and will also show a hand icon in the video preview of that participant.
Participants can also choose to lower their virtual hand if they wish to. On the other hand, the moderators will also have the option to lower a specific person’s hand or all the hands. Along with this, the moderators will also see all the raised hands in the order they were raised in the sidebar.
The company has started rolling out the feature today and it will be available for all Workspace customers except Workspace Business Starter, G Suite Basic customers and personal Google Accounts.
Recently, Google started rolling out its noise cancellation functionality in Google Meet on both Android and iOS. However, everyone will not be able to use this feature as the company has rolled out the feature for only G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers only. This is the same feature which the company rolled out in June for the web version.
