Vertu: Vertu’s ‘successor’ Xor to launch first phone in 2021: Report – Times of India

Xor, a smartphone brand made up of former employees of Vertu, is planning to launch its first phone in Q1 2021, as per a report by Engadget.
The phone is called Xor Titanium which is handmade in England. It will be priced at 3,000 Pounds (about US $3,973), as per the report. The phone, despite the price-tag, will only support calls and text messaging. It features a titanium casing with a classic T9 keypad. The phone comes with a leather covering at the back. It will run specially designed Linux-based software.
As per the report, the Xor Titanium will have a battery life of up to 5 days. Some of the features that the device is touted to come with are active noise cancellation and even wireless charging. As for security features, the phone will have AES256 encryption enabled on a hardware level, says the report. It also adds that if the phone gets lost, a remote secret key can delete all the data on the phone immediately.
Vertu, a Britain-based maker of luxury, handmade phones was founded in 1998 by Nokia. The company closed down eventually due to loss in interest among customers due to the high pricing of the phones and the growth of the smartphone ecosystems based on Android and iOS.
