What Apple wants you to know when you buy a leather MagSafe case for your new iPhone 12 – Times of India

Apple is making it loud and clear that if you use the MagSafe charger along with a leather MagSafe case for charging your new iPhone 12, the charger will leave an impression over time and may damage the colour of the case. Apple has already mentioned the same on the support website earlier. In order to be absolutely transparent with its customers, Apple is now even including a photo of how the leather case may look like after prolonged usage with the MagSafe charger to help you understand what kind of damage you can expect.
Apple in its support website said, “If you keep your iPhone in a leather case while charging with your MagSafe Charger, the case might show circular imprints from compression of the leather. This is normal, but if you’re concerned about this, we suggest using a non-leather case.”

If you are buying a Leather MagSafe case from the Apple online store, browse through the images of the Apple leather case. The last image of the every Leather Case that is showcased on the website has a discoloured ring around the Apple logo alerting buyers about the potential damage a MagSafe charger can do to the leather case.
The new MagSafe wireless charger offers up to 15W fast charging and magnetically attaches to iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models. The MagSafe charger costs Rs 4,500 in India. However, any random case or cover will not support MagSafe charging. You will have to buy a MagSafe compatible case for the iPhone 12. The cost of the MagSafe case for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro starts at Rs 4,900. With the case and MagSafe charger you can wireless charge as well as protect your new iPhone 12 or 12 Pro from accidental falls. But If you want to get the fastest wireless charging speed, which is 15W, then you will have to spend another Rs 1,900 for the 20W USB-C power adapter from Apple.
So, in total you will have to spend Rs 11,300 for the entire MagSafe experience– Rs 4,500 for the MagSafe charger + Rs 4,900 for a MagSafe compatible case from Apple + Rs 1,900 for the 20W USB-C power adapter.
